Orthopedic Position in San Antonio, TX.

We are looking for a highly qualified Orthopaedic Physician Assistant to contribute their expertise to the healthcare team at Brooke Army Medical Center. As a civilian contractor through CentralCare, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality patient care for military service members, veterans, and their families.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
 
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
 
• 12 months of orthopedic experience in the last 36 months in a healthcare setting.
 
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform initial orthopedic consults.
 
• Order and interpret appropriate radiographic exams.
 
• Consult with Orthopedic staff when necessary.
 
• Brace or splint extremity injuries as needed.
 
• Place personnel on profile or quarters in accordance with service policy.
 
• Perform topical and local infiltration anesthesia.
 
• Manage nonsurgical orthopedic conditions.
 
• Perform joint injections or aspirations when clinically indicated.
 
• Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care.
 
• Supervise and provide general screening and medical care.
 
• Provide immunizations, diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated.
 
• Technically direct and provide care for a variety of diseases and types of injuries.
 
• Recognize emergency conditions and refer complex cases to qualified medical personnel.
 
• Provide educational lectures and participate in in-service training.
 
• Promote preventive care and health maintenance.
 
• Prescribe medications and immunizations in accordance with approved protocols.
 
• Establish collaborative rapport with physicians and other staff members.
 
• Teach patients and family members healthy regimens.
 
• Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, education, and quality improvement.
